The first season of The Night Agent, based on the novel by Matthew Quirk, centered on Peter as an FBI agent who answers calls at night for a secret White House organization called Night Action. His heroic efforts (he saved the president) earned him a promotion to Night Agent at the end of the season. But, as the trailer reveals, a mission outside of Washington, D.C., has now put a target on his back again.
The trailer for the new 10-episode season debuted during the NFL’s Ravens vs. Texans Christmas game, which aired live on Netflix.
The footage depicts a new season in which Peter has gone AWOL after realizing that a mole in the CIA is selling American intelligence to the highest bidder and that enough weapons to wipe out Manhattan have ended up in the wrong hands. Peter returns to someone he can trust when he reunites with season one love interest Rose (Luciane Buchanan), but continues to go rogue to save the nation.
The season two cast also includes Amanda Warren, Berto Colon, Louis Herthum, Arienne Mandi, Michael Malarkey and Keon Alexander. Brittany Snow and Teddy Sears have recurring roles.
A third season of The Night Agent has already been confirmed. David Lyons, Jennifer Morrison, Stephen Moyer, Lioness breakout player Genesis Rodriguez and Callum Vinson are all regular cast members, and Suraj Sharma has a recurring role. Details of their roles are being kept under wraps. That season is currently in production in Istanbul and will return to New York in 2025.
The Night Agent season two will be released on Thursday, January 23.
