Shawn Ryan, the series' creator, showrunner and executive producer, confirmed the return of Evans-Akingbola (pictured, left) in season three in a recent interview. A fan favorite of the series, she returns to the regular status she had in the first season after only making a cameo in the second season.

Horton's (pictured, center) promotion was announced in the season two finale, with his antagonist Hagan poised to become the next president. Looking ahead, it was teased in the finale that The Night Agent protagonist Peter Sutherland's (Gabriel Basso) new mission will be to investigate Hagan's ties to shady information broker Jacob (Louis Herthum).

As previously announced, Jennifer Morrison, who plays Hagan's wife, Stephen Moyer, David Lyons and Genesis Rodriguez have been added to the regular cast of season three. The third season will film again in New York next month, after kicking off in Istanbul late last year. Season two can be streamed from January 23 on Netflix.

The first season of The Night Agent, produced by Sony Pictures Television, introduced Sutherland as an FBI agent whose efforts to rescue the President earned him a chance to become a Night Agent in season two. Working for the secret organization Night Action brought him into a world where danger is everywhere and trust is scarce.

In previous interviews, Ryan has stated that each season of The Night Agent will be a standalone story, opening the door to new plot lines and characters. The first season was set in and around Washington, D.C. and filmed in Vancouver, while the 10-episode second season was shot primarily in New York City, with additional filming in Thailand and Washington, D.C. Ryan previously shared that season three would feature "some carryover" in both the cast and story, while reiterating his intention to "make the seasons feel separate."

The series broke into the #7 spot on Netflix's Most Popular TV (English) list in its first season and has reached the top 10 in 93 countries to date, with over 134 million viewers and a total of 14 weeks in the global top 10. The second season failed to match the first season's viewership, but it still topped the English-language TV list with 13.9 million viewers from January 20-26. Furthermore, the buzz surrounding season two was enough to put the first season back in the Top 10 list at #4 with 4.9 million views.
