Rumors of a season two have been around almost since the first season in late 2016, and the second series of The Ink Factory's adaptation is said to be set in the present. After British arms dealer Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie) was taken by the Syrians at the end of the first season, Tom Hiddleston's Jonathan Pine is told two years later that he is dead and must face a new, even more deadly challenge.

Written by Farr and directed by Susanne Bier, the first season also featured Olivia Colman, Tom Hollander, Elizabeth Debicki and David Harewood among the impressive cast. The series won two Emmys and three Golden Globes and followed Pine, the night manager of a luxury hotel in Cairo and former British soldier who is recruited by the manager of a State Department task force to infiltrate Roper's inner circle.
The first season was one of the best-watched British dramas of the year, aired in the US on AMC and led to a number of later le Carré film adaptations of The Ink Factory - which is directed by le Carré's sons Simon and Stephen Cornwell - including The Little Drummer Girl (2018) starring Florence Pugh.
The Hindi adaptation of The Night Manager starring Aditya Roy Kapur as Pine and Anil Kapoor as Roper launched on Disney+ Hotstar earlier this month, and Simon Cornwell recently told Deadline that he's open to a second season for this version.
Fifth Season (formerly Endeavor Content) distributes The Night Manager and has a minority interest in The Ink Factory.
