BBC gives The Night Manager season two a start date and reveals first teaser

Tom Hiddleston returns as Jonathan Pine in the highly anticipated second season of The Night Manager.

The BBC and Amazon have released the first teaser and first-look photos for The Night Manager season two, officially announcing the sequel to the BAFTA and Emmy-winning spy thriller. The new season is set eight years after the events of the first season.

Jonathan Pine (Tom Hiddleston) is now living under the name Alex Goodwin, a modest MI6 employee who leads a quiet surveillance unit in London. His past seems behind him — until one evening, he happens to recognize an old mercenary of Richard Roper (the villain from season one). This encounter sets off a series of events that pull him back into the dangerous world of espionage and international crime.

Pine becomes entangled in a deadly plot involving Colombian businessman Teddy Dos Santos (played by Diego Calva), who is involved in arms dealing and training a guerrilla army. In Colombia, Pine meets Roxana Bolaños (Camila Morrone), a businesswoman who reluctantly decides to help him infiltrate Teddy’s network. As the intrigues pile up and loyalties shift, Pine must decide who he can trust — and how far he is willing to go before it’s too late.

In addition to Hiddleston, Olivia Colman returns as Angela Burr, Pine’s former MI6 contact. We also see Alistair Petrie, Douglas Hodge, Michael Nardone, and Noah Jupe return, with new roles for Indira Varma, Paul Chahidi, and Hayley Squires. Cast members Hugh Laurie, Tom Hollander, and Elizabeth Debicki will not return in this sequel.

The series is created and written by David Farr, based on the characters of John le Carré (who passed away in 2020).

The second season of The Night Manager marks the return of one of the most acclaimed British thrillers of the past decade — with Hiddleston once again as the charming yet tormented spy who can never fully escape his past.
