The Old Man Canceled by FX After Two Seasons

The Old Man Canceled by FX After Two Seasons

The Jeff Bridges-led drama concluded its final season in October.
The series, starring Jeff Bridges as a retired CIA agent who returns to action, performed well in its first season in 2022, earning two Emmy nominations, for Bridges' lead performance and cinematography.

The Old Man

Production on Season 2 halted during last year’s double strikes, resulting in a gap of more than two years between seasons — not unusual for a streaming series, but difficult to bridge for a series that originated on a linear channel, as The Old Man did on FX. The cancellation of The Old Man comes about eight weeks after the Season 2 finale aired in late October.

The second — and now final — season is up for three Critics Choice Awards in January: Best Drama Series, Best Actor in a Drama for Bridges, and Best Supporting Actor in a Drama for John Lithgow.

In addition to Bridges and Lithgow, the Season 2 cast includes Alia Shawkat, Amy Brenneman, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Navid Negahban, and Jacqueline Antaramian.

The Old Man is based on a novel by Thomas Perry and is produced by 20th Television and The Littlefield Company. Jonathan Steinberg and Robert Levine created the series and produced alongside Warren Littlefield, Dan Shotz, Bridges, David Schiff and Jon Watts.
