Season two of HBO's medical drama series The Pitt in production

Production on the second season of the popular medical drama series The Pitt, available on streaming service HBO Max, is currently in full swing.
The new season of The Pitt returns as Noah Wyle, the head of the emergency room, Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, working a particularly hectic 15-hour shift at the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital. As in the first season, each episode will span one hour of his workday, creating a real-time, immersive experience.

The second season will take place over a Fourth of July weekend, picking up ten months after the events of the previous season, which concluded on April 10. The season’s structure will remain the same: fifteen episodes that make up one long workday.

During a panel on Deadline’s Contenders TV in April, executive producer R. Scott Gemmill, co-executive producer John Wells, and lead actor Noah Wyle offered a sneak peek into the upcoming season’s approach. They said the series will stay true to its core: a gritty, realistic portrait of the daily challenges facing healthcare workers in modern America.

Since its premiere, The Pitt has firmly established itself as one of the most-watched series on HBO Max, with an impressive 95% Rotten Tomatoes score and a consistent spot in the top three most-watched titles worldwide. With its combination of intense drama, social relevance, and strong performances, season two promises to be another compelling viewing experience. Fans can look forward to an explosive new chapter in January 2026.
