From Blumhouse Television, The Sticky is inspired by a real-life heist that made global headlines in 2012 in which more than $18 million worth of maple syrup was stolen from Quebec's national reserves.
The six-episode series follows Martindale as Ruth Landry, a tough, middle-aged maple syrup farmer who turns to crime when bureaucratic authorities threaten to take away everything she holds dear. She teams up with an irascible Bostonian gangster (Diamantopoulos) and a mild-mannered French-Canadian security guard (Cyr) to carry out a multi-million heist on Quebec's maple syrup surpluses.
The series was created by American Housewife duo Brian Donovan and Ed Herro. They co-show run and produce. Nine Perfect Strangers director Jonathan Levine directs and produces with his production partner Gillian Bohrer.
Curtis, who has a first-look deal with Blumhouse, is producing for Comet Pictures; Josée Vallée and Bruno Dubé produce for Sphere Media; and Jason Blum, Chris McCumber and Jeremy Gold produce for Blumhouse Television.
All six episodes of The Sticky will be released on the streamer on Friday, December 6.
