The series follows the story of Ben Edwards (played by Kitsch). The story focuses on Edwards' transition from the Navy SEALs to covert operations with the CIA, focusing on the dark side of warfare and its heavy human toll. Chris Pratt returns as James Reece, a role in which he has previously garnered success.
The trailer opens with the words: "When we step onto that battlefield, we're fighting for each other." Later in the trailer, a voice-over says: "I need two shooters for a time-critical operation. I'm offering you the chance to finish what you started, and keep your brothers out of harm's way." It ends ominously with: "The only way out is through."
In addition to Kitsch, Pratt and Hopper, the cast includes Robert Wisdom as Jed Haverford, Luke Hemsworth as Jules Landry, Dar Salim as Mohammed Farooq, Rona-Lee Shim'on as Eliza Perash, Shiraz Tzarfati as Tal Varon and Jared Shaw as Ernest 'Boozer' Vickers.
In addition to starring, Taylor Kitsch serves as executive producer with Chris Pratt through his production company Indivisible Productions. Frederick E.O. Toye, who recently won an Emmy for his work on Shōgun, directs the pilot and also serves as executive producer.
