In the trailer, we hear Amanda's voice: "In 2007, I was halfway around the world, studying in Italy. I had no idea my dream would turn into a nightmare." Returning to her apartment, she discovers her roommate's lifeless body—the beginning of a 16-year battle to clear her name. Later, she says, "Why would I go back to a country where I was convicted of murder? Because if I want to move forward, I have to go back first."
The series follows Amanda's dogged quest for justice and explores how and why both the authorities and the public condemned her so harshly. In addition to Grace Van Patten, the cast includes Sharon Horgan, John Hoogenakker, Francesco Acquaroli, Giuseppe De Domenico, and Roberta Mattei.
The series is a production of 20th Television in association with The Littlefield Company. K.J. Steinberg (This Is Us) is the creator and executive producer. Michael Uppendahl directs and produces.
The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox premieres on Hulu on Wednesday, August 20th, with the first two episodes. New episodes will follow weekly.
