The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon ends with fourth and final season

During San Diego Comic-Con, AMC announced that The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon has been renewed for a fourth, and final, season.
Production on the final season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will begin soon in Madrid and other locations in Spain. Lead actors Norman Reedus (Daryl) and Melissa McBride (Carol) will return for the eight episodes that will conclude the story.

AMC's entertainment president Dan McDermott praised the enduring success of both The Walking Dead and its spinoffs. He emphasized the impact of the characters Daryl and Carol, who, he says, are among the most iconic in television history: "They've taken the audience on an intense and hopeful journey, right from the start."

The third season premieres on Sunday, September 7th, and follows Daryl and Carol on their adventure in Spain. The cast is further strengthened by Eduardo Noriega, Óscar Jaenada, and Alexandra Masangkay.

Norman Reedus expressed his gratitude: "This journey with Daryl Dixon has been unforgettable. This final season isn't an ending, but a celebration of everything we've shared together." Melissa McBride added that filming with Reedus in Europe has been "an adventure of a lifetime," and that they still have much in store for the fans.

It's great that Daryl and Carol get to finish the story together! I'm curious to see how their trip to Spain ends. Bring on that final season!

Season 3 still has to air, so maybe they'll be back in America by then.

Question: Did they show more of those "super" zombies in season 2? Or is that something that's not a recurring theme and isn't explored?

Season 2 does explore these "variant" or "super" zombies further, but it remains rather subtle. There are a few moments where you notice they're stronger or smarter, but it's not (yet) a recurring theme as you might expect. It seems more like they're building it up slowly, possibly with a view to bigger developments towards season 3 or 4.
