With a total of eight episodes, time is ticking to see Negan (Morgan) and Maggie (Cohan) take on the undead one more time and maybe – just maybe – lean more into the ship everyone's been talking about.
Lady Liberty herself welcomes viewers back for a new batch of episodes in the first few seconds of the sneak peek of the second season of The Walking Dead: Dead City. Sure, she doesn't look very good, but neither does the once bustling Manhattan, which is now overgrown with greenery. Streets once filled with yellow taxis and people are now home to the titular zombies, with the camera following one of those undead creatures as it shuffles its way down a laneway. But soon the cleaning crew comes to take out the trash, appropriately to the sounds of Ace Frehley's hit New York Groove. By throwing this zombie's body into a container with other members of those affected, the bodily fluids flow and the city of New York above ground is restored to its neon glory.
As for the names that will join Morgan and Cohan in the upcoming batch of episodes, the ensemble for season two of Dead City includes Gaius Charles, Lisa Emery, Dascha Polanco, Kim Coates, Zeljko Ivanek, Mahina Napoleon and Logan Kim.
As for the plot, the series synopsis reveals that after spending the first season working on their complicated relationship, Maggie and Negan will be at odds with each other in the second season as they each join the various factions fighting over Manhattan.
Eli Jorné, longtime writer and co-executive producer of The Walking Dead, will take on the showrunner duties this time around and also serve as executive producer alongside Morgan, Cohan, Scott M. Gimple, Brian Bockrath, Michael Satrazemis and Colin Walsh.
Watch the first two minutes of The Walking Dead: Dead City season two below and tune into AMC on Sunday, May 4 to pick up the thread with Negan and Maggie.
