Shohreh Aghdasloo added to cast of The Wheel of Time season three

The Emmy winner plays a major character from Robert Jordan's fantasy novels.
The Prime Video series has added Emmy winner Shohreh Aghdashloo to the cast. In the third season of The Wheel of Time, which will be released in March, Aghdashloo (pictured) will play Elaida do Avriny a'Roihan, a major character in Robert Jordan's fantasy novels on which the series is based.

Elaida is described as "a ruthlessly powerful Aes Sedai who is as adept at politics as she is at channeling them. She has a deep past with Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) and Siuan (Sophie Okonedo) and has a bone to pick with both as she returns to the White Tower. Elaida is someone who believes in ends over means and is willing to do anything to achieve what she sees as the greater good."

Prime Video recently unveiled a teaser for season three in which Moiraine warns that she has seen "a thousand futures," all predicting that she or Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski), the young man who will lead the future of humanity as the dragon reborn hands will survive - but not both.

Aghdashloo played the role of Chrisjen Avasarala in the Prime Video series The Expanse for six seasons. She recently appeared in the HBO series The Penguin. She also had roles in HBO's The Flight Attendant and Marvel's The Punisher.

She joins the ensemble with Daniel Henney, Zoë Robins, Madeleine Madden, Marcus Rutherford, Dónal Finn, Ceara Coveney, Kate Fleetwood, Natasha O'Keefe, Ayoola Smart and Kae Alexander.

I thought she was fine in The Expanse. Only thing is that because of her rather specific voice it seems to always do the same thing very quickly. But there are worse choices for an important role :-)
