The White Lotus and Welcome To Derry postponed by HBO to 2025

The White Lotus and Welcome To Derry postponed by HBO to 2025

Guests won't be able to check in for the third season of The White Lotus until 2025.
HBO has revealed it has pushed back the third season of the Mike White-created series, as well as the Stephen King IT spinoff Welcome To Derry, to 2025.

It comes as a result of the strikes of writers and actors.

“We had Welcome To Derry scheduled for Halloween ’24 but it will likely push into ’25. White Lotus Season 3, that was going to be ’24 and that’s likely moving into 2025,” said Chairman and CEO, HBO and Max Content Casey Bloys.

The White Lotus

The White Lotus heads to Thailand for its third season, after the first season was filmed in Maui, Hawaii and season two in Sicily, Italy.

The third season will feature a new cast, as season two did, albeit with Jennifer Coolidge’s Tanya. Whether she will be back given what happened at the end of season two is obviously up in the air.

Meanwhile, Welcome To Derry is set in the world of Stephen King’s IT and comes from Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs. It is based on the novels and expands on the story in the films IT and IT Chapter Two.

Starring Madeleine Stowe (Revenge), Stephen Rider (Marvel's Daredevil), Taylour Paige (Hit the Floor), Jovan Adepo (The Stand (2020)), Chris Chalk (Perry Mason (2020)) and James Remar (Dexter).

Welcome To Derry is produced by HBO Max and Warner Bros. Television. Fuchs writes the teleplay for the first episode, based on a story by the Muschiettis and himself. Fuchs and Brad Caleb Kane are the project's co-showrunners.

The Muschiettis (through their production company Double Dream, which has an overall agreement with WBTV), Fuchs and Kane are executive producers. Shelley Meals, Roy Lee and Dan Lin also produce.
