Start date for The Witcher third season; the last featuring Henry Cavill

The Witcher returns in June for its third season. The upcoming eight-episode season will release in two parts and will mark the end of Henry Cavill's time as Geralt of Rivia. With Cavill, Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan, Jodhi May, Bjorn Hlynur Haraldsson, Adam Levy, MyAnna Buring, Mimi Ndiweni, Therica Wilson-Read, Emma Appleton, Eamon Farren, Joey Batey, Lars Mikkelsen, Royce Pierreson, Maciej Musial, Wilson Radjou -Pujalte and Anna Shaffer starring, The Witcher fantasy series is based on the video game and novel series of the same name. Cavill announced in October last year that he would be leaving the role. Liam Hemsworth reprises the role of Geralt for season four.



Netflix revealed more about the upcoming third season in a press release:

"This summer, everything changes. The Witcher season three begins on June 29.

Netflix today released a brand new teaser trailer, poster, and photos for The Witcher season three, which kicks off this summer. Volume 1 will contain episodes 1-5 and will be released worldwide on Thursday, June 29, and Volume 2 will contain episodes 6-8 and will be released on Thursday, July 27.

Synopsis: As monarchs, mages and beasts of the continent battle to capture her, Geralt goes into hiding with Ciri, determined to protect his newly reunited family from those who threaten to destroy her. Entrusted with Ciri's magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where they hope to discover more about the girl's untapped powers. Instead, they find themselves in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic and betrayal. They must fight back, risk everything, or risk losing each other forever.
