Prequelseries The Witcher: Blood Origin announced by Netflix

The Witcher franchise is going to be further expanded. Netflix has just announced a prequel series called The Witcher: Blood Origin

Netflix has already continued production on the second season of The Witcher, which was Netflix's second best-watched in the United States in 2019. The streaming service has also announced a six-part prequel series called The Witcher: Blood Origin.

This new series will take place 1200 years before the events of The Witcher and will tell the origin of the very first Witcher. Next to that, it shows events that will lead to the crucial coming together of the world of monsters, men and elves.

Declan de Barra (The Originals) will serve as showrunner and executive producer. Production is planned to happen in the United Kingdom. It is not yet known who is going to join the cast and when the series is set to release.

The Witcher

Last January, Netflix announced an animated spin-off movie called The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. The film will tell the tale of Geralt's mentor and colleague, Vesemir.
