NBC has decided that the eighth season is not going to be the last of the long-running crime series. The Blacklist - which features James Spader (photo (R) and Megan Boone (photo (L) in the lead - is still a great show for the Peacock network.
The first episode of the eighth season had an average of 7.5 million viewers. During the sixth and seventh season, the series acquired an average of 39 million viewers through digital and linear platforms. It was even deemed the number two of all aired drama series amongst viewers aged 18-49.
Next to NBC, the Sony Pictures series has managed to sign a rather lucrative deal with Netflix. Plenty of reasons to order a ninth season. It hasn't been announced whether or not the ninth season is going to be the last. There's plenty of room for even more The Blacklist.
In the upcoming episode, it will finally be revealed who is the number one on Reddington's famous blacklist.
