Comedy series The Goldbergs ends after ten seasons

Comedy series The Goldbergs ends after ten seasons

The ABC series about the '80s ends after a decade. The Goldbergs has been canceled, so there won't be an eleventh season.
The Goldbergs is a family comedy series starring Wendi McLendon-Covey, Sean Giambrone, Troy Gentile, Hayley Orrantia, Sam Lerner and Patton Oswalt (voice).

Set in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, the series is loosely based on the experiences of series creator Adam F. Goldberg. The series looks at the life of a young man growing up in the Goldberg family in the 1980s. Youngest child Adam (Giambrone) is obsessed with movies and spends his time documenting the ups and downs of his colorful family. Mother Beverly (McLendon-Covey) enjoys taking care of her family and meddling in their lives. Eldest child Erica (Orrantia) dreams of becoming a pop star if only she can overcome her secret love for all things uncool.

Middle child Barry (Gentile) can be emotionally ignorant. His best friend, Geoff 'Madman' Schwartz (Lerner), is now married to Erica. The tenth season begins after the death of patriarch Murray (Jeff Garlin) and everyone lives under the same roof again. Erica and Geoff become parents, Adam and Barry are forced to share a bedroom, and Beverly prepares to become a grandmother.

According to Deadline, the series' demise isn't surprising given rising production costs and the fall in traditional ratings. Sony Pictures Television produces the series, so ABC/Disney does not share in the profits outside the network. Ownership has become an important factor in the renewal of the programs as the networks' ratings have fallen.

According to cast members, filming for season ten wrapped last week. It seems that the writers have been given a warning to film a good finale, which will air this spring.
