The Missing gets a second season from Starz and BBC

Starz and the BBC have renewed The Missing for a second season by which they have confirmed the status of anthology series. That means that the second season of The Missing will also have eight episodes with a double timeline structure, but with a new missing person's case, other actors and another location.

This announcement was made right after the finale of the first season that was broadcast on 16 December on BBC One. But also shortly before the series will premiere in America on January 2015. The Missing will be available from 20 December at On Demand and Starz Play.

The Missing has just received a Golden Globe nomination for best miniseries/TV movie and actress Frances O'Connor who played Emily Hughes has been nominated for Best female lead in a mini-series/television movie. The series had an average of seven million viewers per episode.

Even a small teaser trailer for the second season has been released, see below.
