‘The Musketeers’ will be back for more

BBC One have ordered a second season of the drama series ‘The Musketeers’. The contemporary and fresh take on the classic novel ‘The Three Musketeers’ by Alexandre Dumas had an excellent beginning. Episode one had 9.3 million viewers and that makes ‘The Musketeers’ BBC’s biggest new drama series launch since ‘Call the Midwife’. ‘The Musketeers’ is a successful BBC One addition; the first three episodes had an average of 6.3 million viewers in the ratings.

The Musketeers' is set in Paris of the 17th-century. In that time and age law and order was more an idea than reality. The series follows the bodyguards of King Louis XIII, but they are more than just bodyguards. They stand for justice, honour and valour, and especially for the thrill and love of it all. The ten episodes of season one star Luke Pasqualino (‘Skins’) as D’Artagnan, and of course the Three Musketeers Athos (Tom Burke, ‘Great Expectations’), Aramis (Santiago Cabrera, ‘Merlin’) and Porthos (Howard Charles, ‘Royal Shakespeare Company’). The four of them are a strong team and highly trained soldiers and they will all return for the second series.

The Musketeers’ are broadcast on Sunday night at nine p.m. And there are still seven episodes of the thrilling drama series to come in season one.
