Claire Holt, who's portrayed Original vampire Rebekah Mikaelson on 'The Vampire Diaries' and its subsequent spin-off since 2011, is leaving The CW's 'The Vampire Diaries' spinoff 'The Originals'. Tuesday's episode marked Holt's final episode as a series regular, but the option to return periodically as a guest star is however open for her. It was entirely the actress's own decision to leave 'The Originals'.
Holt's character was first introduced on 'The Vampire Diaries' in 2011. Eventually the entire Mikaelson family got its own series, 'The Originals', which began airing in September 2013. Initially, her guest role on the hit series was a three-episode arc, however she quickly became a fan-favorite character. Even though Claire Holt is leaving, 'The Originals' has already been renewed for a second season on the CW.
