Three Pines won't get a second season from Prime Video

Prime Video has pulled the plug on crime series Three Pines after just one season.

Prime Video has canceled Three Pines. The news was confirmed by showrunner Emilia di Giorlamo, source material writer Louise Penny and actress Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers. Tailfeathers described the cancellation as "difficult to deal with" and said that as a native actress she never thought she would get the chance to star in a show like this. Three Pines has been praised for its nuanced depiction of Indigenous people and the problems this entails.

Three Pines

Three Pines premiered on December 2, 2022 on Prime Video. Chief Inspector Armand Gamache and his team investigate a series of mind-boggling murders in the seemingly idyllic village of Three Pines and uncover the hidden secrets of its eccentric residents. In doing so, Gamache is forced to confront his own hidden secrets. Based on the novels by Louise Penny.

Penny says: "I'm shocked and gutted. Like any series, Three Pines had development points, but it would only get better and better." Three Pines was produced by Left Bank and also starred Rossif Sutherland and Sarah Booth. It was Left Bank's first series for Prime Video. A spokesperson for Prime Video said: "We are proud of the work done on this series and the opportunity to work with some great partners."
