Even with the ever-present threat of violence within its walls, they discover that an unexpected sense of community, and a shared understanding, is still possible.
“I’m very happy to be a part of this project, working with an incredible team and following on from a stellar first season. And it’s such an honour to be Kelsey, I’m really excited to experience the world through her for a few months.”, Ramsey (pictured) said.
Ramsey made her breakthrough at the age of thirteen with her recurring role as Lyanna Mormont on HBO's Game of Thrones. It was her first acting job and she was seen from the sixth to the eighth season. After that, Ramsey appeared in several television series and films, including The Worst Witch (2017), His Dark Materials, Becoming Elizabeth and The Last of Us.
Whittaker has just finished her role as the first female Doctor in Doctor Who, while Lawrance stars in Channel 4/HBO's Get Millie Black. Happy Valley's Finneran returns as prison chaplain Marie-Louise in the second season of Time.
The double BAFTA-winning first season, which won for Best Miniseries and Best Actor (Bean), followed a prison where a man who killed someone while drunk driving befriends a prison warden. The series received critical acclaim for McGovern's portrayal of prison life in the United Kingdom, achieving a consolidated average of over ten million viewers per episode.
McGovern said the second season cast is the "best cast I've ever seen for a drama of mine."
Filming on the second season will begin soon in Liverpool. Time is a BBC Studios production for BBC One and BBC iPlayer. The series is written by McGovern and Helen Black, directed by Andrea Harkin (The Trial of Christine Keeler) and produced by Carmel Maloney (Dublin Murders). Executive producers are Priscilla Parish, Michael Parke and Andrew Morrissey for BBC Studios, Lucy Richer for the BBC, and McGovern. BBC Studios distributes worldwide.
