Étoile trailer crosses the Atlantic for ballet comedy

Étoile trailer crosses the Atlantic for ballet comedy

Prime Video has released a trailer for the upcoming series Étoile, which is set in the world of ballet.
The trailer for Étoile shows off both top-notch dancing and a potentially harebrained plot that will fuel the series. The series, from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel creators Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, sees the heads of two ballet companies—one in New York, the other in Paris—make a deal to swap their top dancers for a year in hopes of reviving both companies’ successes. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel actor Luke Kirby and Charlotte Gainsbourg play the heads of the two companies.

The trailer features the fast-paced dialogue that is the hallmark of the Palladinos’ series, along with gorgeous visuals and lots of dancing. Watch it below.

Prime Video has signed on Étoile for two seasons in 2023. The series, filmed in New York and Paris, is the second ballet-focused series for the Palladinos following Freeform’s (then ABC Family) cult favorite Bunheads in 2012.

In addition to Kirby and Gainsbourg, Étoile stars Lou De Laage, Gideon Glick, David Alvarez, Ivan du Pontavice, Taïs Vinolo, David Haig, LaMay Zhang and Simon Callow. Gilmore Girls actor Yanic Truesdale has a recurring role.

The full season of Étoile premieres on Thursday, April 24.
