The trailer introduces viewers to Jessica (played by Megan Stalter), a thirtysomething New Yorker who, after a painful breakup, tries to reset her life by moving to London. What begins as a desperate escape quickly turns into a chaotic, funny, and confusing new chapter.
Jessica’s first impressions of London are anything but rosy: she finds herself in a noisy apartment and feeling lost. But then she meets Felix (Will Sharpe), a British musician with a mysterious edge and, as Netflix describes it, a “walking series of red flags.” Their bond is undeniably intense and darkly humorous from the start. The trailer plays out a series of flirtatious moments full of irony and clashing perspectives between the cynical Brit and the emotionally wounded American.
The dynamic between the two main characters balances between attraction and self-destruction, with sharp dialogues and tragicomic situations. As Jessica searches for a new start, she must ask herself whether Felix is really her salvation or just another emotional minefield.
Netflix describes Too Much as a series about cultural misunderstandings, romantic obsessions and letting go of old patterns. Or, as the central question goes: do Americans and Brits actually speak the same language – in love and beyond?
Too Much promises to be a sharp, disruptive, yet relatable romcom, with Lena Dunham’s signature humor and sensitivity. The series will be released on Netflix on Thursday, July 10.
