Amazon cancels Utopia (2020) after its first season

Amazon Prime Video has cancelled the American mysterious drama series Utopia (2020). It premiered last September.
Utopia (2020) is based on the book with the same name by Gillian Flynn (Sharp Objects). The series was also created and written by Flynn. Last September, this mysterious drama premiered on Amazon Prime Video. There will not be another season, as the streaming service has decided to cancel Utopia (2020). In 2013, Channel 4 also tried to adapt the book into a series but they weren't that successful either. That series was cancelled after its second season in 2014.

Utopia (2020) revolves around a group of young adults who find a secret cult novel. As a result of that, this group becomes a target for a shady government organization. Next to that, they are also tasked with saving the world.

A shame because it ended with a big cliffhanger, but I'm not surprised. Series started strong, but dropped way back as the season went on.

Somehow a shame. Certainly not as good as the British original, but quite amusing. I saw this primarily as an opportunity to retell the story beyond the point where the original ended. But they didn't get that far at all. Small improvement: Utopia is not based on a Gillian Flynn book, but is an original idea conceived by Dennis Kelly, who created it for Channel 4. Gillian Flynn `` invented '' the remake for Amazon, as in showrunner and wrote all episodes.
