Production on the third season has already started. In the US, it airs on EPIX. The third season will release somewhere in 2022.
The series is a reinterpretation of the classic novel by HG Wells and starts off with astronomers in modern-day Europe, who notice an unusual transmission from another galaxy. It doesn't take long before intelligent alien life ends up on earth and soon, the biggest portion of humanity is wiped away due to devastating attacks. This only leaves a small group of humans alive in a mostly desolate world. As the intruders hunt the survivors, they are left with the question of who the attackers are and what they really want.
According to the network, the third season will show the turning point in the war between the survivors and the aliens. A new alliance will be formed and they will have to deal with an opposition that is more dangerous than ever. The cast consists of Gabriel Byrne, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Léa Drucker, Natasha Little, Stéphane Caillard, Adel Bencherif, Ty Tennant, Stephen Campbell Moore, Bayo Gbadamosi, Aaron Heffernan and Emilie de Preissac amongst others.
