The cast does a solid job. Ernest Kingsley Jr. brings Wash convincingly to life, and Sterling K. Brown exudes warmth, but the weak dialogue and forced romance drag them down. Visually, the series is impressive. The landscapes and costumes look stunning.
Washington Black is beautiful to look at, but its content is unbalanced. A missed opportunity that could have been more than just a beautifully packaged story.
