The news was revealed at Netflix’s Tudum event in Los Angeles, where Lady Gaga gave a spectacular Wednesday-inspired performance. She emerged from a coffin inscribed with the words “Here lies the monster queen,” accompanied by Addams-style dancers. She performed “Zombieboy,” a song from her new album Mayhem, followed by a dance to the song “Goo Goo Muck” (made famous by Wednesday’s viral dance scene), and closed with the song “Abracadabra.”
The collaboration didn’t come out of the blue. After season one, Jenna Ortega’s dance scene from episode four went viral on social media, spawning countless remixes — including one set to Gaga’s “Bloody Mary” that became an internet hit. Fans have been clamoring for a collaboration between Gaga and Wednesday for a while now, and that wish has come true.
Netflix also showed the season two opening during the event, in which Wednesday (Ortega) is trapped in the basement of a serial killer played by Haley Joel Osment. She explains how she got into this situation and why the killer sees her as his next victim.
Lady Gaga’s mysterious role, a darker storyline, and an all-star cast promise to make season two of Wednesday even more eccentric, exciting, and stylish than the first.
Wednesday season two will be released in two parts; the first part will be released on Wednesday, August 6, and the second on Wednesday, September 3. Watch the first six minutes of season two below.
