Although, according to Morticia Addams (Catherine Zeta-Jones) in the trailer, "it's the first time Wednesday has ever voluntarily returned to a school," Ortega's character has her reasons for doing so. Wednesday even compares her return to Nevermore to "returning to the crime scene," because she "already knows where the bodies are buried."
Yet, this season, there's one body she refuses to bury: that of her best friend, Enid (Emma Myers). "Enid's dying, and it's all my fault," Wednesday says, after her mother asks what she saw as black tears streamed down Wednesday's face.
While "secrets are the foundation of the Addams Family," Wednesday also acknowledges in the footage: "The sooner I get answers, the sooner I can save Enid. Or die trying."
The season two description reads: "Wednesday Addams returns to roam the gothic halls of Nevermore Academy, where new enemies and troubles await. This season, Wednesday must navigate family, friends, and old adversaries, drawing her into another year of delightfully dark and quirky chaos. Armed with her signature razor-sharp wit and dry charm, she's also drawn into a chilling new supernatural mystery."
The cast also includes Steve Buscemi, Joy Sunday, Luis Guzman, Hunter Doohan, Billie Piper, Isaac Ordonez, Victor Dorobantu, Georgie Farmer, Moosa Mostafa, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, Noah Taylor, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo. Creators/showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar return for season two, along with executive producer and director Tim Burton.
Part one of Wednesday season two premieres on Wednesday, August 6th, followed by part two on Wednesday, September 3rd. Watch the trailer below and see new photos from the upcoming season.
