Westworld - Season 2
Westworld was definitely one of the better new shows last year. This futuristic series is based on the film of the same name and takes place in a special theme park where the rich can do pretty much everything they've ever fantasized about. Here you will not find any carousels or roller coasters, but instead you'll see realistic settings where the guests can do everything, including things that they aren't allowed to do in their daily lives. For example, guests are allowed to kill the inhabitants (androids) of the park, rape them and anything else they can imagine.
Delos' security troops are also trying to contain the rioting hosts. This, however, doesn't turn out to be very easy. Some hosts have gone absolutely haywire and want to go to the 'real world'. The one who leads these rebels is known as Dolores Abernathy and with the help of her followers she causes death and destruction amongst the 'real' people. She has a specific goal in mind and everything and everyone, both human and host, must give way to this.
A third important part of the storyline is the secretive man in black. Every single time he visited Westworld, he went to the home of Dolores and raped her. However, this time he's looking for a secret area within Westworld. Along the way he is confronted with hosts killing real people, something that shouldn't be possible. And last we've also got Maeve Millay, who used to live in a small cabin with her daughter, before she became a brothel madam in the local Mariposa Saloon. She suddenly constantly relives the memory of her daughter being kidnapped by a native American. She then goes on a quest to try and figure out what actually happened.
If the first season of Westworld was known as an absolute hit, then this second season can be defined in that very same way. It may be even better, as I personally think that this season is superior compared to the first. Sometimes you can't help but wonder what kind of things you would do if such a park were to exist. Next to that, we also see some beautiful scenery whilst we join the characters on their adventure through the virtual world of Westworld.
I think that HBO considers Westworld to be the successor to Game of Thrones. This second season does prove that it can deliver the same quality as GoT. I'm already looking forward to the third season, but unfortunately we'll have to wait till 2020.

After Ford passed away, Bernard notices that a lot of things in the world of Westworld aren't as they should be. The hosts, which is how the robots are described, suddenly appear to have memories and they want to live their own lives, without the influence of Delos, the coordinating organisation that is responsible for the creation of Westworld. Lowe starts to look into the situation in order to figure out what is happening and who's responsible for all of it. Along the way he makes some disturbing discoveries about both the park and himself.Sometimes you can't help but wonder what kind of things you would do if such a park were to exist.
