Sixth season of What We Do in the Shadows will be the last for FX

Sixth season of What We Do in the Shadows will be the last for FX

FX's comedy horror series What We Do in the Shadows will end its sixth season, it has now been confirmed.
Based on the 2014 feature film of the same name by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, What We Do in the Shadows documents the nocturnal adventures of vampire roommates Nandor (Kayvan Novak), Laszlo (Matt Berry), Nadja (Natasia Demetriou) and Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch) as they navigate the modern world of Staten Island with the help of their human familiar, Guillermo (Harvey Guillén).

What We Do in the Shadows

FX has renewed the comedy for seasons five and six in 2022. The first started on July 13 and ended on August 31.

In terms of ratings, the season five premiere dropped 35% in total viewers on FX, with an audience of approximately 326,000 viewers on the linear channel. The season struggled to maintain that audience, averaging just 275,000 viewers per episode.

That's down from the average of 356,000 per episode for season four. However, this data is very limited as it does not take into account viewership on Hulu, which likely draws the majority of the series' viewership. It's unclear if the series has made up for the linear viewership it lost on streaming.

The series is produced by FX Productions, with Paul Simms, Clement, Waititi, Stefani Robinson, Sam Johnson, Garrett Basch and Eli Bush serving as executive producers.

In its first two seasons, What We Do in the Shadows earned ten Emmy Award nominations, including one for Outstanding Comedy Series. Season three is currently eligible for Emmy consideration and recently received three Critics' Choice Award nominations, including one for Best Comedy Series.

The series recently received four more Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Production Design, Outstanding Picture Editing For A Single-Cam Comedy Series, Outstanding Editing and Outstanding Costumes.

Too bad, I think it's a nice series to watch in between.

It's been a really fun series so far. It is difficult to maintain such quality and to keep coming up with new fun situations. So I kinda get it. But it's still a shame, because it's one of my favorite comedy series. The movie was already a lot of fun and the series was a nice follow-up to it. Hopefully the series will end on a high note.
