Willow is not returning to Disney+ for a second season. The streaming service canceled the sequel series just two months after the first season ended.

The fantasy series picks up years after the original 1988 film with a new adventure for Nelwyn wizard Willow, again played by Warwick Davis. Ellie Bamber, Ruby Cruz, Erin Kellyman, Amer Chadha-Patel and Tony Revolori also starred in the series, which introduced new characters and was set in a world where brownies, wizards, trolls and other mystical creatures thrive.

An unlikely group of heroes set out on a perilous quest to places far beyond their home, where they must face their inner demons and come together to save their world.



The cancellation comes as Disney+ and other streaming services cut costs in an effort to be profitable. Although the Willow series was well received by critics, the series did not become the big mainstream hit the service hoped for.

Willow remains an important original title in the Lucasfilm library, so it could be revisited at a later date.
