The full trailer follows an earlier, terrifying teaser that revealed this season would be about both a chase and a hunt, as the hit Showtime series continues to follow the survivors across two timelines: the present day in 2021 with Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Tawny Cypress, Lauren Ambrose, and Simone Kessell; and the timeline of the crash in 1996 with their younger counterparts and additional survivors played by Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, Kevin Alves, Steven Krueger, and more.
Warren Kole, Sarah Desjardins, Elijah Wood and newcomers Hilary Swank and Joel McHale round out the cast.
The new trailer, featuring Drowning Pool's hit "Bodies," showcases the survivors' collective mania. Highlights include a visit from the late series star Ella Purnell (whose Jackie was the group's first feast); a potential reckoning for Coach (Krueger), who may or may not have burned down their hideout in the finale; lots of violence; a terrified Swank (character details have yet to be shared); and horrors from the wilderness returning to haunt (like Tai's alter ego).
Season three begins streaming two episodes on Valentine’s Day, February 14 (and on-demand for Paramount+ subscribers with the Paramount+ with Showtime plan) before its linear premiere on Sunday, February 16 at 8 p.m.
After losing one of its key survivors in the season two finale—leading to the departure of lead actress Juliette Lewis from the series—and the appointment of her younger counterpart (Thatcher) as their official leader in the past timeline, season three begins with the survivors of the Yellowjackets soccer team making it through the winter.
The synopsis reads: "In season three, as summer dawns, the Yellowjackets face a fragile victory - the brutal winter that nearly claimed them is finally behind them, but distrust in leadership and tensions within the team jeopardize their chances of redemption. In the present, long-buried secrets from their past begin to emerge. As the women fight to keep their lives from falling apart, they must confront a terrifying question: Who are they really, and what dark truths are they hiding from each other and themselves?"
