The Yellowstone (2018) spin-off centered around Beth and Rip is gearing up to start.Ed Harris is the latest addition to the cast of the series, which focuses on the beloved characters of Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser. The series is set after the events of the original Yellowstone (2018) series, which concluded in December 2024 with Beth Dutton and her husband Rip Wheeler moving to a new ranch in Montana.
Ed Harris
The Paramount+ series has the working title Dutton Ranch and already includes Annette Bening in the cast, as well as Finn Little, who reprises his role as Beth and Rip’s adoptive son Carter.
Harris, known from Westworld, will play Everett McKinney, a seasoned veterinarian who treats animals with compassion and humor. Bening portrays Beulah Jackson, a powerful, cunning, and charming woman who runs a large ranch in Texas.
Hauser recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about his excitement to step back into Rip’s boots: “Kelly and I are focusing on Rip and Beth’s relationship and our love together, and what we’re going to put them through. I’m just as excited as everyone else.”
The description of the series reads: “Beth Dutton (Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Hauser) are grateful for the peace they have sought, fought for, and nearly died for on their 7,000-acre Dutton Ranch. With tough times and fierce competition, Beth and Rip do what it takes to survive while ensuring Carter (Little) becomes the man he is meant to be.”
Harris joins the growing list of A-list talent within Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone universe, which also includes Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren (1923) and Michelle Pfeiffer (The Madison).
In addition to Dutton Ranch and The Madison, the expansive franchise also includes the prequels 1883 and the upcoming CBS series Y: Marshals, in which Luke Grimes returns as Kayce Dutton. Another prequel, 1944, is in development, presumably following the end of 1923.
