Prime Video releases teaser trailer for Guy Ritchie's Young Sherlock

Guy Ritchie's reinterpretation of Sherlock Holmes has received its first teaser trailer from Prime Video.
In the upcoming Prime Video series Young Sherlock, Hero Fiennes Tiffin (After) takes on the role of a young Sherlock Holmes, who is studying at the University of Oxford in 1870. Guy Ritchie directs the first two episodes and serves as an executive producer for the series.

Ritchie previously offered a fresh take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's legendary detective with the 2009 film Sherlock Holmes, starring Robert Downey Jr., followed by a sequel.

The eight-part series is presented as an origin story for the character. The official description states: “Sherlock Holmes is a disgraced young man — raw and unfiltered — when he becomes embroiled in a murder case that threatens his freedom. His very first case unravels a worldwide conspiracy that changes his life forever. Set against the backdrop of Oxford in the 1870s, and featuring adventures outside of England, the series showcases the early antics of an anarchistic adolescent yet to grow into the most famous resident of Baker Street.”

Alongside Dracula, Sherlock Holmes is likely the most filmed literary character of all time. A film version of Young Sherlock Holmes was made earlier in 1985, directed by Barry Levinson.

In addition to Fiennes Tiffin, the cast includes Dónal Finn, Zine Tseng, Joseph Fiennes, Natascha McElhone, Max Irons, and Colin Firth.

The series premieres on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, on Prime Video.

It's exciting to see Guy Ritchie return to the Sherlock Holmes universe. Hero Fiennes Tiffin seems an interesting choice for the role of a young, rebellious Sherlock, and the 1870s Oxford setting promises a fresh historical twist. The cast, including Colin Firth and Joseph Fiennes, certainly adds weight. It will be interesting to see how this will differentiate itself from previous film adaptations.
