Apparently some people know better than others how to tell a story and Stephen King is certainly one of them. Few can mix one of the most famous events in US history with pure fiction (time travel) and convey that in a credible way. It is still early but after 2 episodes this is already a candidate for the series of the year.

Pfff I have seen 2 episodes, but I think this is already a damn good series. Each episode so far ends with a gigantic cliffhanger for the next. James Franco also plays fantastic. My review will be online soon for the first episode. But this is a keeper for now. Can't wait for episode 3 already

What would you do if you could travel back in time? Would you rush straight to 1992 to make sure that that class photo of you with that incendiary hairspray crest and NafNaf sweater with shoulder pads would never be taken? Would you agree in one of the seats at the Coliseum at Richfield to see Jordan send the Cavs on vacation early in the '89 playoffs with The Shot? Is that what you would do or are you less selfish and would you tweak history left and right for less misery in the history books? Lying to little Adolf that the ice on the big lake next to his house is thick enough to skate all the way to the middle? Bush whispering that Saddam would rather spend his money on golden 22s for his Rolls Royce Phantom than on weapons of mass destruction? Would you sabotage that episode of the sound mix show with Marco Borsato and his flaxy mustache, so that 25 years later we wouldn't be saddled with all those terrible albums? Is that what you would do, yes? Well, then you could have played James Franco in 11/22/63, the new one from Hulu, too. James is Jake and Jake has a little soul under his arm. Jake's wife doesn't feel like it anymore and after the divorce Jake is mainly devouring his misery in the dinner of his friend Al. If you're close friends, you shouldn't really keep secrets from each other, but Al has been secretly traveling to 1960 for a while through his provisions cupboard to try to prevent the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Yeah listen, I didn't come up with this either. Although he will probably have a lot of skills, but a little breeding with the course of history is not one of them. Now that Jake is at home just twiddling his thumbs, he can take over from Al. He zaps himself to Texas in the early 1960s and embarks on a massive venture to stop Lee Harvey Oswald from shooting. Extremely attractive as Jake is, of course he immediately has the delicious mokkels hanging on his pants and with every friendship it becomes more difficult to return to his own time. Show Me A Hero. The Man In The High Castle. Hap And Leonard. Olive Kitteridge. In addition to films, books are increasingly used as a source of inspiration for new series. If one person wrote enough bizarre stories to tinker into series for days to come, it's Stephen King. While his book Under The Dome was mercilessly assaulted by CBS a few years ago, this time Hulu makes an attempt with the science fiction thriller 11/22/63 and that is not bad at all. Don't let the sci-fi genre put you off. I personally am not much of a fan of that either, but 11/22/63 really only asks one thing from your imagination: go along with the whole idea of time travel. There are no flying saucers, no E.Ts and everything just takes place on our planet. When series are set in the past, the right styling is often a challenge, but in this case Hulu has adopted it with both hands. Everything looks very neat. It is also nice to see that fact and fiction can go hand in hand so well. James Franco can act and I dare you not to fall head over heels in love with Sarah Gadon. The whole thing could have been an episode or two shorter, because in the middle it starts to drag on a bit, but at the bottom of the line a very thick enough. Hulu does not have a huge track record yet when it comes to 'own' series, but if this is going to be the average level then they may well spit out news at a faster pace.

It is indeed a shame that the series has a dip after the first two episodes. I think it's mainly due to the implementation of new characters, which I think could have been a bit smoother and not that difficult since Jake met Sadie before. Nevertheless, it remains above average and very nice to watch, partly thanks to the sublime depiction of the period in which the story takes place.

On November 22, 1963, before us November 22, 1963, President John Fitzgerald Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas. It is one of the most significant events in American history. The assassination had a huge impact on the country, as many believed that this would be the president who would finally bring about change. After the murder, the country was left with many questions and conspiracy theories. The old master Stephen King even wrote a book of the same name about it. A book that can now be seen in series on the small screen. After seeing the first episodes I think this could be the best Stephen King series in years. Anyway, anything is better than toilet paper like Under the Dome, of course. At 11:22:63, Jake Epping (James Franco, 127 Hours) travels back in time to thwart the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The dinner of his friend Al Templeton (Chris Cooper, Adaptation) functions as a portal to the year 1960. Al firmly believes that the present would look different if this attack were foiled. Jake is logically skeptical at first. I mean what would you do if someone told you you can time travel? I would probably serve you with a backhand from Rafael Nadal. Hard. A couple of times. And I would finish my shot completely. Jake eventually tackles. He now has three years to find out how things really work. To actually prevent the murder. That is, if the past doesn't stop that. 11.22.63 is hugely intriguing. From time to time I can be a sucker for conspiracy theories. These theories force you to question everything you believe in. They force you to question everything and to adopt a critical attitude. Is it really not as it seems? Is what we believe based on misinformation? 11.22.63 tries to make us doubt the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Did Lee Harvey Oswald really kill Kennedy? Did he have accomplices? Was he commissioned? Is there more to it than we know? As far as I am concerned, Stephen King had a great idea when he decided to write a book on this theme. Hulu has certainly done a good job translating this book to the small screen. The great thing about these first episodes of 11.22.63 is that the series manages to create the mysteries and suspense that this genre needs. In a series on this theme, what happens must be as mysterious to the protagonist as it is to us. The series knows how to convey that feeling excellently. The series creates an atmosphere that draws you into the story. It makes you look mesmerized at the screen. 11.22.63 looks good and plays with your imagination. Because what if a person can really change significant events ... Would the world actually look different? Or would it simply have been replaced by some other significant event? It's entertainment, but also stimulating. The series enthusiast knows that these two things do not always go together. That is what I always look for in series. Of course it should entertain me. But for me (especially an ambitious) series should be more than just entertainment. James Franco has been well cast as Jake Epping. Many will think of Franco's well-known comic roles. However, Franco is an actor who can do a lot more. He has already proved this in films such as 127 Hours and The Iceman. In the second episode, The Kill Floor, Epping hears a story about a war veteran and the look on Franco's face at that moment is a piece of good acting. Franco puts down a layered performance and 11.22.63 certainly gives something extra. Josh Duhamel is also very busy in the second episode as a violent father with loose hands. There is a lot of threat from his character and Duhamel certainly surprised me with his performance. Oscar winner Chris Cooper is also on a roll as Al Templeton, the man who gets the ball rolling for James. Interestingly, the story doesn't make it easy for Jake. It soon becomes clear that the past does not allow itself to be changed easily. Changing the past is not without price. That makes the data even more interesting for me. In the words of Al Templeton: "There are times that you feel it push back, you know" and "if you do something that really fucks with the past, the past fuck with you". What's also interesting is that Jake may be able to build another life in the past. The first episode, The Rabbit Hole, makes it clear that it is not easy for Jake in the present. Now Jake can not only change an important historical event, but also start another life in a different era. The second episode is more or less a very interesting stand-alone episode. Then Jake tries to change an event unrelated to the Kennedy assassination. So it is still possible, a fascinating episodic episode. What is central in this episode is not remarkable, but the episode is supported by good play from Franco and Duhamel. In addition, there are several interesting scenes that will keep you on your toes (such as Jake's conversation with a war veteran). I hope (I'm really thumbing) that the series doesn't lose itself halfway through. Don't. Fuck. This. Up. Please !! Many a Stephen King film or series has already perished. The man often comes up with fascinating stories, but also often loses himself at some point in the story. In addition, I have not always been pleased with King's work, which has been serialized. Whether that was due to the source material or the makers who urinated about his work. For example, I still have a very dirty aftertaste of Under the Dome, one of the worst series of this decade as far as I am concerned. I spontaneously start to cry when I think back to this traumatic event. But, back to 11.22.63. In any case, there is a lot to look forward to. This miniseries only has eight episodes and is therefore not a very large investment. As far as Mister is concerned, anyone can travel back to 11.22.63 as soon as possible. I'm already waiting in Dallas! www.meneervevie.com

I would not immediately declare this the best series of 2016, but one of the better. The tension was built up well, but the attentive viewer already knew in episode 7 how it would end in episode 8. What the series does sublime is portray the sixties atmosphere.

When you read what it is about you get curious, as the story goes on it becomes less interesting. The story goes too slow. Acting is good though!

The first two episodes were very good! But then the whole story collapses completely. And almost nothing remains. Unfortunately.

This is really not true, the third and fourth episode are indeed not very strong but anyway the 5th episode and certainly the 6th really pick up the thread again. Certainly episode 5 is again of the same level as the first 2.
