Owen Strand was the sole surviving firefighter at his Manhattan barracks during the Sept. 11 attacks nearly 20 years ago. In the aftermath of the disaster, Owen was given the arduous task of rebuilding the barracks. When a similar disaster occurs in Austin, Owen goes to Texas with his son TK, who is also a firefighter and has his own problems. With his progressive ideas about life and the fire department, Owen helps to rebuild the barracks. On the outside, Owen is a city boy with a big mouth, but inside he struggles with a secret - a secret that may well be the death of him.

Oh must say that this series attracts me more than the original, the team appeals to me more and especially Rob Lowe an actor who is very underrated. In my eyes a lot more sympathetic than his stiff colleague from the original... they can continue as far as I'm concerned... I really think this one is better than the original...

I think it's wise that they made the fifth season the last. Nice series that shouldn't go on too long.
