It's gripping, very violent and grim, from beginning to end.
I enjoyed the storyline, the stunning cinematography with attention to the smallest details, the beautiful landscape and also the great acting. I was quite charmed by Betty Gilpin, also known from Mrs. Davis. If you are more into the faster work, then I would leave this American Primeval alone.
