Babylon 5 is een Amerikaanse sciencefictionserie van Syndicated. De serie ging in première op 26 januari 1994.
Babylon 5, vaak genoemd als een goed voorbeeld van het genre space opera, had een verhaallijn van vijf jaar, die werd verteld gedurende vijf seizoenen van 22 afleveringen. Centraal in dit verhaal staat een groot ruimtestation genaamd Babylon 5, een 8 kilometer lange kolonie die is gebouwd als een verzamelplaats om de vrede te behouden via diplomatie, handel en samenwerking. De commandant noemde het de "laatste en beste hoop voor vrede" voor de mensheid. Babylon 5 werd echter het middelpunt van politieke intrige en conflict en uiteindelijk raakte het betrokken in een interstellaire oorlog.

The best sci-fi series, B5 the place to be. And especially the storyline through it about the Votlons and Shadows.

Fantastic series. Despite the mediocre special effects, which were groundbreaking at the time and made with Commondore Amiga computers, this is one of the best and most exciting SF series ever. Too bad it stayed with 5 seasons. I hope there will be another reboot. With the current CGI it must be possible to create beautiful special effects.

Started season 3 last night. First rewatch since it aired. I'm struck by how much of the entire story has stayed with me. What I didn't quite remember is that many of the actors who play the aliens, like Gkar, Lennier, and Vir, appear in fewer episodes than originally anticipated. Especially in the first two seasons, it's noticeable that Gkar is much less present. This is rectified starting in season 3, but still... striking.
