Strange guy. Strange mother. Strange village (with a secondary school where apparently you can only enroll as a girl if you are extremely hot. Which I applaud by the way.) Strange storyline. Strange developments. Just strange really. Say anything. As the season progresses, strangely enough, everything gets more fun. Strange.
This is one of those series where I always wait until the season is complete before I look further, and normally I start all the way back from the beginning. The reason for this is more than likely due to my childhood. As a child I loved Alfred Hitchcock's films, called the "Master of Suspense" for good reason. To be honest, I don't think I saw the famous "Psycho" shower scene until the third time I saw the movie and I was about 14 years old. The first two times the tension was too much for me and the fear to keep watching apparently a bit too great :-) Now this may all seem trivial, but in the time (1960) when the film had its debut in the cinema, it was said once more that it all became too much for someone in the audience. After all, a scene like this had never been shown on the silver screen before. And that while the illusion was actually bigger than what you actually got to see. The combination of 77 !! (really) different angles from which the scene was shot, the music, a knife and an immortal cry of Janet Leigh was enough for many viewers to leave the rest of the horror to their own imagination. Another reason I keep watching the series from the beginning when another season is complete is undoubtedly Vera Farmiga in the role of Norma Bates. A rendition that literally stands out above everything and everyone in the series. Even more than the story, because after all we all know how Norma and Norman Bates are going to end, Vera Farmiga is the reason you keep watching this series. For me anyway :-)
