The series is produced by Boat Rocker, is based on the book by Hugh Howey and is created by Zak Penn.

Beacon 23 takes place in the farthest reaches of the Milky Way. Season one followed Aster (Headey), a government agent, and Halan (James), a stoic ex-military man, whose fates became intertwined after they became trapped together in one of the many beacons that served as a lighthouse for intergalactic travelers.
In season two, Beacon 23 is now little more than a prison with Aleph on board and The Artifact offers more questions than answers. Without a clear path forward, the residents of Beacon 23 must rely on each other, but their conflicting agendas may get in the way.
The first season finale ended in a cliffhanger with Headey's Aster being shot. Keir (Marc Menchaca) shoots her after she warns that she is going into the artifact to receive the message she will share with everyone. Keir decides he can't let her do that, leaving the question hanging - is Aster dead? Stay tuned.
Natasha Mumba and Ellen Wong also appear in season two.
Penn is producing alongside Glen Mazzara and Joy Blake, who also serve as co-showrunners for season two.
The second season of Beacon 23 can be seen on MGM+ from Sunday, April 7.
