Everything has to be bigger. The BMW must be bigger. The holiday home on the French Riviera needs to be bigger. Your 25 year younger girlfriend's tits need to be bigger. Fine of course, but those jokes cost money. A lot of money. It's no wonder that the accumulation of screeching midlife crises at the top of the corporate and banking sectors has led to an enormous mess. A housing market that turned out to be on swampy quicksand; non-functioning top men, who were promoted with golden handshakes with which you could organize an advisory referendum every month in the Netherlands and, above all, a lot of mistrust among ordinary citizens. You and me, you say. In addition to all the misery, there is also a very positive side to all that eager snapping, it is such a great source of inspiration for films. The Wolf Of Wall Street, Inside Job and The Big Short, we probably wouldn't have been able to feast on them if some megalomaniac figures hadn't gone wild first. At least I think. Also in serial land they have now understood that you can go in all directions with this fact. That's how Showtime came with Billions, USA Network is already starting its second round this year Mr. Robot and the Danes have recently Amount. At the energy company Energreen they pretend they are packaging Jesus as a company, but nothing could be further from the truth. Behind all the lobbying for cleaner energy, there is a lot of lobbying for one's own pocket. Not that pretty. Detective Mads senses his injustice that something is wrong with the company. When one of the Energreen employees washes up dead, that is the starting shot for him to do a thorough investigation. Mads, huh? Of course, that dead employee no longer has the strength to do so. When you hear that one of the inventors of Borgen is the spiritual father of Amount, your heart will immediately start ticking a lot faster. At least mine is. We always talk about the Danes spitting tasty new series at such a rapid pace, but the last good one was Arvingerne and that is already from 2014. High time to get over the bridge again. And was that successful with Amount? Not quite. The atmosphere is nice and there is little to criticize about the acting, as in most series from Danish soil, but it does not grab you as much as Forbrydelsen, Bron | Broen or the aforementioned series. The crux is mainly in the story, it is too much on the surface. The three storylines move more alongside each other than that they become intertwined. In addition, the life of the young car mechanic Nicky is completely irrelevant to the series. You could easily delete his story and invest the time gained in researching Evergreen and deepening the characters. There is also something to criticize about the latter. Borgen had Birgitte and Kasper, Forbrydelsen did it with Sarah and in Bron | Broen we lost our hearts to Saga and Martin, but after watching Amount we are left empty-handed. None of the protagonists really appeals to the imagination. I think it could have been, but then they should have invested more time in the development of the characters. With Mads, Evergreen director Alexander and the ambitious lawyer Claudia Moreno, Amount has three interesting personalities, but they don't get enough water to grow. Unfortunately. That, in combination with the plot, makes Amount to a series that is certainly not bad, but clearly draws the shortest end in comparison with its Danish predecessors.

I had it on my list for a while but still haven't started. Until recently, you could watch the series online on the Canvas website, the second network of our national channel. There are more "alternative" series online from countries where the viewer would otherwise not be able to get it as directly as Turkey, Romania, Greece, Israel, Croatia etc ... Different, but not necessarily bad. However, if you are watching from the Netherlands, you will have to use a VPN to hide the location from where you are looking.

Thanks! Take a look every now and then with VPN to see what great things you have to offer. Recently watched Le Bureau Des Leges there. Love for the Belgian anyway. Only watch cycling there for about ten years now. Can we learn something from the Netherlands?

Certainly a good series although I found the end of season 2 a bit weak.
