Álex Pina and Esther Martínez Lobato's series will begin filming next year.Berlin, played by Pedro Alonso, returns with his whole gang for a new series of the spin-off, which was created after the huge global success of the Spanish Netflix series La Casa de Papel (Money Heist). The series acts as a prequel to La Casa de Papel/Money Heist and follows the main character on another heist.
In addition to Alonso, the film stars Michelle Jenner as Keila, an expert in electronic engineering, Tristán Ulloa as Damián, a philanthropic professor and Berlin confidante, and Begoña Vargas as Cameron, a kamikaze who always lives on the edge. Julio Peña Fernández plays Roi, Berlin's loyal squire, and Joel Sánchez brings to life Bruce, the ruthless man of action in the gang.
Netflix said Berlin was the most-watched series worldwide during its premiere week last year, reaching the top 10 in 91 countries. The series then remained in the non-English TV Top 10 for seven consecutive weeks, with 348 million hours watched and 53 million total views, Netflix added.
Pina's Vancouver Media is producing again.
La Casa de Papel/Money Heist ran for three seasons over five parts, first on the local network Antena 3 and then on Netflix. It ended in 2021 and is one of the most popular international Netflix titles of all time.
