Jana McKinnon is one of the new cast members joining Travis Fimmel in the second season of the Australian mystery drama series Black Snow. Production on Stan and Sundance Now's original series is underway in Queensland, Australia. Below you can see the first images of Fimmel and McKinnon. In season two, Detective Cormack (Fimmel) tackles two different missing persons cases. One is professional, as he investigates the disappearance of Zoe Jacobs (McKinnon), who vanished from her own 21st birthday party in 2003. The other is personal, as Cormack desperately searches for his own younger brother, who went missing while she was still alive. were children.
Director Sian Davies, executive producer Rosemary Blight and series creator Lucas Taylor return for season two, with Helena Brooks directing. Lead actor Talijah Blackman-Corowa from the first season joins the second season as director.
Goalpost Pictures produces the series. The new season is produced in partnership with All3Media International, which sells the series, and Sundance Now, with funding from Screen Queensland, Screen NSW and City of Gold Coast. Executive producers for Stan are Cailah Scobie and Amanda Duthie.
In July 2022, there was first news about the series, which was then planned as a limited series. The AACTA and Logie-nominated series was shown on Stan in Australia, AMC Networks streamer Sundance Now in the US and the BBC in the UK. A second season was ordered as part of Stan's final programming, which was unveiled last month.
“Following the enormous success of the first season of Black Snow we are thrilled to be working with the team at Goalpost Pictures and the incredible cast, led by Travis, on another gripping season,” said Stan Chief Creative Officer Scobie.
The recast is the latest example of a high-profile Australian scripted series, with Stan and Binge attracting major on- and off-screen talent for well-funded productions.
