Black Snow season two was filmed in Queensland Australia and is set in the Glasshouse Mountains. Fimmel (Vikings, Dune: Prophecy) will reprise his role as Detective Cormack and Jana McKinnon will also star, as previously reported.
Megan Smart, Alana Mansour, Dan Spielman, Victoria Haralabidou and Kat Stewart also star.
In the 40-second teaser, Fimmel stands with his eyes wide open in a forest as McKinnon's character Zoe Jacobs appears to flash past him. He finally sees her as she stands in the water, but her image disappears in a flash and only a missing persons map floats to where she stood. He stares at the card as the words 'What Happened To Zoe Jacobs?' flash across the screen.
In the season, cold case detective Cormack investigates Zoe's disappearance at her 21st birthday party in 2003, while simultaneously undertaking a desperate personal search for his younger brother, who went missing when they were children.
Season one director Sian Davies, executive producer Rosemary Blight and series creator Lucas Taylor return for this season, with Helena Brooks directing. Lead actor Talijah Blackman-Corowa joins the second season as director, supported by Screen Queensland.
This morning, distributor All3Media International confirmed season two deals with TV4 in Sweden and MTV Oy in Finland. The first season has been sold to Prime Video in a pan-African deal, Acorn TV in Spain and Spanish-speaking Andorra, telecom company Blue Entertainment in German-speaking Switzerland and Lichtenstein and RTBF in French-speaking Belgium.
Magenta TV (Germany), Canal+ (Austria), Cosmote (Greece) and Sýn hf (Iceland), OSN+ and OSNtv in the Middle East and TVNZ in New Zealand, which previously bought season one, have also committed to the new series.
The first season of Black Snow was nominated for Most Outstanding Drama Series at the 2023 Logie Awards, Australia's equivalent of the Emmys, and in several categories at the AACTA Awards, including Best Drama Series and Best Lead Actor in a Drama for Travis Fimmel. The series was sold internationally to, for example, Sundance Now in the United States.
Goalpost Pictures is creating Black Snow season two in association with All3Media International and Sundance Now, and with financial support from Screen Queensland, Screen NSW and City of Gold Coast. Executive producers for Stan are Cailah Scobie and Amanda Duthie.
