What a fantastic series! Although you already know (largely) what happened, this series knows how to take you all the way. Terrifying to realize it all really happened.

I was 16 years old at the time of the disaster and I don't remember much fuss about it. But after seeing this series I think very differently about it. We have escaped a much worse nuclear disaster. Very moving for the victims and the relief workers. Very frustrating to see the leadership of the communist Soviet Union trying in every way to thwart and cover up everything. They would have asked for better help from the Western world. Very well, filmed very realistically. Must see! 9/10.

Seen the whole series. And also really clear that there has been stopped in the detail about the events. Regarding the language, I also understand that HBO has opted for English. Since you often get those fake Russian accents. Top series well worth seeing and using this as a history lesson.

During the disaster in 1986 I was 20 and I remember very well that in the Netherlands you were no longer allowed to sell leafy vegetables and milk. I could understand that there was a lot of fuss because it was a nuclear disaster. The Chernobyl series is very moving and it is unbelievable that the alarm was not raised earlier and help was requested from the Western world due to its stiffness. An impressive series!

Let's call it 'fashionably late', but I had to see this series. Chernobyl. And frankly, it didn't quite live up to expectations. Although the atmosphere and music score are really delicious, just like the actors, I think the story is quite thin. At least, it feels like some really random things were taken and used for this story. As a result, it does not feel like a whole to me. One moment it is about the disaster, the next about the consequences and finally about the theme of truth. In addition, although they try to hide this, the story feels very 'American'. This is evident from the many things that have changed for the story and I think that is very unfortunate. Of course not everything has to be the same one-on-one, but I miss the authenticity a bit.

Only seen the pilot so far. It certainly wasn't bad. Just find it annoying that everyone speaks plain English and some even with a British accent. Should be Russian, I think ... :) Understand that HBO does that, but still.
