Luke Mitchell (Blindspot) guest stars in the ninth season of Chicago Med

Luke Mitchell (Blindspot, Big Sky) has joined the cast of Chicago Med in a guest role for season nine.
Although Mitchell is billed as recurring, sources say his role could evolve into a regular role.

Mitchell (photo) will be Dr. Play Mitch Ripley (name subject to change), an emergency room doctor with a troubled past who shares a history with Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt). Sources understand he will make his debut in the first episode airing on Wednesday, January 17. The Australian actor joins the long-running series from Wolf Entertainment/Universal Television following the departure of series regulars Brian Tee and Nick Gehlfuss.

Chicago Med is officially back in production for season nine, which will consist of thirteen episodes. The series is produced by Dick Wolf, Diane Frolov, Andrew Schneider, Stephen Hootstein, Eli Talbert, Arthur Forney and Peter Jankowski.

Mitchell started his career on the Australian hit series Neighbors in the role of Chris Knight in 2008 before moving on to another famous soap, Home and Away, a year later. He recently played Cormac Barnes on season three of Big Sky.

Other television roles include leading roles in NBC's Blindspot, CBS's The Code (2014) and The Republic of Sarah for The CW and he also starred in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. from ABC and Legacies from The CW.
