I don't think this series is intended for the older "straight" target group, but rather for teenagers who recognize themselves in the main character and that is why many people don't like it?
I don't know if "straight" has much to do with it. But age probably does. For example, I saw the first Child's Play in the cinema ;-) I cannot identify with the characters and the teenage anxiety that permeates everything. I have now also seen episode 2, but even after that episode there is really no one with whom I sympathize or who I find interesting or fun at all. The main character is of course Chucky. And not that kid who found it. But Chucky is also not what he used to be. I miss the sharpness and black humor from the films. Even though Brad Dourif voices him again, I don't think there is much menace in it. And do we really only get one kill per episode? Anyway, you're right that I'm not in the target audience for this series. But since I'm a fan of most of the films, I naturally wanted to give it a chance. But I'll stop. Unfortunately.... This is nothing more than my personal opinion. If you think the series is fantastic, I'm happy for you. Enjoy it I would say. Fortunately, not everyone has the same taste. Otherwise it would be very boring, also here :-)
Season 2 is terrible. If Chucky also wakes up now, it will all be very sad. A colored boy who has a relationship with a white boy....Gender neutral sisters...man..man..man...what a lame piece of shit. The few nice kills don't save the series.
Will Chucky become a real "Good Guy" now? It looks like this is going to be a simple revenge series. The potential victims are neatly lined up in the first episode and are, of course, all people who are very mean to the gender fluid main character. What a drama. In the movies, Chucky didn't care if someone was nice or mean. He liked to put everyone to death. If "politically correct" murders are going to happen now, then as far as I'm concerned it's a failed series. Still curious about the second episode and I hope I got it wrong.
I hope there will be a season 4 we want to know how it ends with Jake and Devon and lexy and caroline this series should continue until season 10 or more and more episodes
Just watched the first season and so far I think it's better than the movies. (On Netflix there's only 1 season for now). I'm not a fan of woke culture as I've read in some comments so for me it's still waiting for the next seasons.
If you want to watch it completely legally, you will have to be patient for another month. It's on FOX. From the De Nachtvlinders site: "Chucky can be seen every Thursday at 10 p.m. on FOX from November 11, followed by the original film Child's Play on November 4 at 10 p.m." (Google is your friend ;-))
