De bergen achter Sotsji is a Dutch travel documemtary show which is aired on VPRO. The series premiered on 26 January 2014.

The Olympic Wintergames start on 7 February 2014 in the vicinity of the town Sochi in the south of Russia. For weeks it's shown in the media how atlethes slalom, bobsleigh and louche down mountains. But where are those mountains? And who lives there? Jelle Brandt Corstius goes in search of answers in 'The Mountains behind Sochi'.

In this six-part series he will travel from the Russian Sochi through the Caucasus. Far from political powergames and war intrigues, he visits faraway mountainvillages and meets proud tribes with a powerful dream of independance.
