Designated Survivor is een Amerikaanse poitieke dramaserie van de zender Netflix (voorheen ABC). De serie ging in première op 21 september 2016.
Designated Survivor* draait om een Verenigde Staten kabinet lid met een lage rang (Sutherland), die opeens als president aangewezen wordt na een catastrofale aanval tijdens de State of the Union. Deze aanval dood iedereen die boven Sutherland staat in rang om eerst president te worden.
* In de Verenigde Staten wordt er een Designated Survivor (ook wel designated successor) aangewezen in het kabinet die niet fysiek aanwezig is en beschermt wordt op een geheime locatie als de president en andere topleiders (onder andere de vicepresident en andere kabinetsleden) samen zijn op één locatie, zoals tijdens de State of the Union. Dit wordt gedaan in het geval van een catastrofe die alle officiële opvolgers van de president en de president zelf dood. Als dat gebeurd wordt de Designated Survivor automatisch de waarnemend president van de Verenigde Staten.

The first 12 episodes of Season 1 were like watching the first season of '24'. Really great! Again it is clear that the influence of Kiefer is very great. The tension was great! However, afterwards you noticed that the tension that had been built up fell apart and actually did not return, or did not return sufficiently. Too bad, because I don't think this should have been done.

Great series with a great actor. When I'm watching, I'm on the edge of the couch. There is a lot of tension and sensation in it. Very good story line. In short: very exciting to watch.

Beautiful and exciting series, many parallels with a book by Tom Clancy (Debt of Honor) in which Jack Ryan comes into the same position after a B 747 is deliberately dropped on the Capitol and the entire government is killed.

First season was very strong and the series got a 9 from me because of that. However, the second season does not fascinate me and the episodes feel as if everything is being milked out. Half the time I don't even have what or why something is happening and the episodes aren't that cohesive anymore. Cliff hangers are no longer there as before. I expect to continue watching, but I am no longer as eager for new episodes as with the first season.
